The VSAN Belt Sway Switch is a heavy-duty safety device designed to continuously monitor the alignment of conveyor belts and detect excessive belt misalignment during operation. It provides early warning and automatic shutdown signals whenever the conveyor belt deviates from its normal running position, preventing equipment damage, material spillage, belt wear, and costly production downtime.
Conveyor belt misalignment is one of the most common causes of belt failure in industries such as mining, cement, power generation, steel, ports, and bulk material handling. If left undetected, belt sway can result in severe damage to conveyor structures, idlers, pulleys, and the conveyor belt itself. The VSAN Belt Sway Switch is specifically engineered to protect conveyor systems by detecting abnormal belt movement before major failures occur.
The switch is installed on both sides of the conveyor belt along its running path. Under normal operating conditions, the actuator roller remains in its neutral position. When the conveyor belt drifts beyond the permissible limit and comes into contact with the roller arm, the switch is activated. Depending on the angle of belt deviation, the switch generates either a warning signal or a shutdown command, allowing operators to take corrective action before equipment damage occurs.
Manufactured with a rugged die-cast aluminium or heavy-duty cast metal enclosure, the VSAN Belt Sway Switch is designed to operate reliably in harsh industrial environments. Its weatherproof and dustproof construction provides excellent resistance against moisture, vibration, corrosion, and extreme temperatures, making it suitable for both indoor and outdoor installations.
The VSAN Belt Sway Switch is available with one-stage and two-stage operation, where the first stage provides an alarm signal and the second stage initiates conveyor shutdown. The switch is equipped with SPDT/DPDT potential-free contacts, ensuring easy integration with PLC, DCS, SCADA, MCC panels, conveyor protection systems, and industrial automation networks.
Designed for long service life and maintenance-free operation, the VSAN Belt Sway Switch is widely used in Mining, Cement Plants, Thermal Power Stations, Steel Plants, Ports, Fertilizer Industries, Paper Mills, Food Processing Industries, Coal Handling Plants, Bulk Material Conveying Systems, and Industrial Automation Applications.
The VSAN Belt Sway Switch offers dependable conveyor protection, improves operational safety, minimizes maintenance costs, and enhances the overall reliability of material handling systems.
The VSAN Belt Sway Switch operates on the Mechanical Roller Lever Detection Principle.
The switch is mounted on either side of the conveyor belt so that the roller arm remains close to the edge of the moving belt without making contact during normal operation.
If the conveyor belt begins to drift due to improper tracking, worn rollers, uneven loading, or mechanical failure, the edge of the belt pushes against the roller arm.
As the roller arm rotates to the preset angle, the internal microswitch is activated. In two-stage models, the first level of belt deviation activates an alarm contact, alerting operators that corrective action is required. If the belt continues to move beyond the second preset angle, a second contact is activated to automatically stop the conveyor system and prevent serious equipment damage.
Once the conveyor belt is correctly aligned, the roller arm automatically returns to its normal position and the switch resets, allowing normal operation to resume.
This simple yet effective operating principle provides continuous monitoring and reliable protection for conveyor systems operating in demanding industrial environments.
The VSAN Belt Sway Switch is extensively used to protect conveyor systems from belt misalignment across a wide range of industries.
