The VSAN Diaphragm Seal Transmitter is a high-performance pressure measurement solution specifically designed for applications involving corrosive, viscous, abrasive, crystallizing, high-temperature, sanitary, or hazardous process media where direct contact between the pressure sensor and the process fluid is not suitable. By incorporating a diaphragm seal between the process and the pressure transmitter, the instrument ensures accurate pressure measurement while protecting the sensing element from aggressive process conditions.
A diaphragm seal consists of a thin, flexible metallic diaphragm that is directly exposed to the process medium. The pressure exerted on the diaphragm is transmitted through a specially filled capillary system or direct-mounted seal using an incompressible fill fluid to the pressure sensing element within the transmitter. This arrangement isolates the sensor from the process media, significantly extending the service life of the instrument while maintaining excellent measurement accuracy.
The VSAN Diaphragm Seal Transmitter is suitable for measuring gauge pressure, absolute pressure, and differential pressure, making it ideal for a wide range of industrial applications. It is particularly recommended for processes involving high-viscosity liquids, slurries, corrosive chemicals, molten materials, food products, pharmaceutical fluids, and sanitary applications, where conventional pressure transmitters may become clogged or damaged.
Manufactured using premium materials such as SS316L, Hastelloy C, Monel, Tantalum, Titanium, PTFE-coated diaphragms, and other corrosion-resistant alloys, the diaphragm seal provides excellent compatibility with aggressive chemicals and demanding industrial environments. Various diaphragm types, flush-mounted designs, threaded, flanged, hygienic, and remote seal configurations are available to suit specific process requirements.
The transmitter delivers a highly accurate 4–20 mA analog output, with optional HART Communication, RS485 Modbus RTU, Profibus PA, and Foundation Fieldbus protocols for seamless integration with PLC, DCS, SCADA Systems, Industrial Automation Networks, and Process Control Systems.
The VSAN Diaphragm Seal Transmitter features advanced microprocessor-based electronics with digital calibration, temperature compensation, automatic linearization, sensor diagnostics, zero/span adjustment, and programmable measuring ranges, ensuring reliable performance under varying process conditions.
Designed for long-term operation in harsh industrial environments, the transmitter is available in Weatherproof (IP65/IP67/IP68) and Explosion-Proof (Ex-proof) versions for hazardous area applications. It offers excellent resistance to vibration, pressure fluctuations, thermal expansion, and corrosive atmospheres while maintaining outstanding long-term stability and repeatability.
The VSAN Diaphragm Seal Transmitter is widely used in Chemical Processing, Petrochemical Plants, Oil & Gas Industries, Pharmaceutical Manufacturing, Food & Beverage Processing, Dairy Plants, Pulp & Paper Industries, Power Plants, Water & Wastewater Treatment, Steel Plants, Marine Applications, OEM Equipment, and Industrial Automation, where reliable pressure measurement under difficult process conditions is essential.
With its superior corrosion resistance, hygienic design, accurate pressure transmission, and advanced communication capabilities, the VSAN Diaphragm Seal Transmitter provides a dependable and maintenance-friendly solution for demanding industrial pressure measurement applications.
The VSAN Diaphragm Seal Transmitter operates on the Hydraulic Pressure Transmission Principle.
The process pressure acts directly on a thin metallic diaphragm installed between the process medium and the pressure transmitter. The diaphragm isolates the sensing element from direct contact with the process fluid.
The pressure applied to the diaphragm is transmitted through a specially selected incompressible fill fluid contained inside the diaphragm seal and capillary tube (or direct-mounted seal). This hydraulic pressure is transferred to the internal pressure sensing element without allowing the process media to enter the transmitter.
The pressure sensor converts the transmitted pressure into an electrical signal using advanced piezoresistive or capacitive sensing technology. An internal microprocessor performs signal conditioning, temperature compensation, linearization, and calibration before generating a standardized 4–20 mA analog output or digital communication signal.
The processed pressure signal is then transmitted to PLC, DCS, SCADA systems, or process controllers for continuous monitoring, process control, alarm generation, and industrial automation.
This measuring principle ensures highly accurate pressure measurement while protecting the transmitter from corrosive, viscous, abrasive, and high-temperature process media.
The VSAN Diaphragm Seal Transmitter is extensively used in applications where direct contact between the pressure sensor and process media must be avoided.
