The VSAN Vortex Flow Meter is a highly reliable and versatile flow measurement instrument designed for accurate measurement of liquids, gases, and steam across a wide range of industrial applications. Based on the internationally proven Kármán Vortex Shedding Principle, the flow meter delivers precise and stable flow measurement with excellent repeatability and long-term reliability. Its robust construction, absence of moving parts, and low maintenance requirements make it an ideal choice for demanding process industries.
As fluid passes through the bluff body (shedder bar) inside the flow meter, alternating vortices are generated downstream. The frequency of these vortices is directly proportional to the flow velocity. An integrated piezoelectric or capacitive sensor continuously detects the vortex frequency, and the advanced microprocessor-based transmitter converts it into accurate flow rate, totalized flow, and process parameters.
Unlike conventional mechanical flow meters, the VSAN Vortex Flow Meter has no rotating or moving components, eliminating mechanical wear and significantly reducing maintenance requirements. The meter is suitable for measuring saturated steam, superheated steam, compressed air, natural gas, nitrogen, oxygen, water, hot water, condensate, thermal oil, chemicals, and other industrial process fluids.
Manufactured using premium-grade stainless steel and precision-engineered components, the VSAN Vortex Flow Meter is designed to withstand high temperatures, high pressures, and harsh industrial environments. It is available in Flanged, Wafer, and Insertion models to accommodate different pipe sizes and installation requirements.
The flow meter supports multiple communication protocols, including 4–20 mA Analog Output, Pulse Output, Frequency Output, RS485 Modbus RTU, HART (Optional), and Profibus (Optional), ensuring seamless integration with PLC, DCS, SCADA, and Industrial Automation systems. With optional temperature and pressure compensation, it provides highly accurate mass or volumetric flow measurement for steam and gas applications.
The VSAN Vortex Flow Meter is widely used in industries such as Power Generation, Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Chemical Processing, Food & Beverage, Pharmaceutical, Textile, Paper & Pulp, Steel, Cement, and HVAC, where reliable and maintenance-free flow measurement is essential for process efficiency and energy management.
The VSAN Vortex Flow Meter operates on the Kármán Vortex Shedding Principle. Inside the flow meter body, a specially designed bluff body (shedder bar) is positioned in the flow path.
As the fluid flows past the bluff body, alternating vortices are formed on either side of the obstacle. These vortices are shed at a frequency that is directly proportional to the velocity of the flowing fluid.
A highly sensitive piezoelectric sensor detects the pressure fluctuations created by the vortex formation and converts them into electrical signals. The transmitter processes these signals using advanced digital electronics to calculate the flow velocity and determine the volumetric or mass flow rate.
For steam and gas applications, optional temperature and pressure compensation ensures highly accurate mass flow measurement. Since the flow meter contains no moving parts, it provides long-term stability, excellent repeatability, and minimal maintenance, making it ideal for continuous industrial operation.
The VSAN Vortex Flow Meter is widely used for accurate measurement of steam, gases, and liquids in industrial process and utility applications.
